Floyd Peacock, Jr. was born on September 10, 1948, in Ocala, Florida.  He is the sixth
child out of twelve children to the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Peacock, Sr.  When he was
six years old, his parents moved to Mackennisville, FL and that is where he obtained
his education through the public school system.  As a child, he was brought up at the
Springhill Baptist Church.  After his graduation from Ransom High School in 1966, he
worked various jobs before moving to Pensacola, FL.  It was here that he met his
lovely wife of 42 years, Sister Johnnie Peacock.  They are the proud parents of two
sons, Eric and Corey Peacock, adopted son Jaden Packer and three awesome
grandchildren, Jamal, Jamon & Jamia Peacock.  Pastor Peacock heard the call of the
Lord placed on his life in the year their house burned down in 1979.   A moving and
uplifting benefit program for his family by true Saints of God touched his spirit and
softened his heart toward the ways of God.  He did the work of a deacon before
giving his trial sermon on December 31, 1982 under the leadership of Pastor Sam
Jones at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.

In 1985, with an organization of 5 people, Pastor Peacock founded New Birth
Missionary Baptist Church in which he has served as Pastor for over 25 years.
Despite trials and tribulations of his own, his dedication and commitment to God and
the church never waivers.  Pastor Peacock always takes the time to encourage
others.  He has a giving spirit and does not mind listening, praying and assisting
others in need.  His warm and friendly smile and uplifting voice draws people young
and old to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He stresses the importance of his favorite
scripture Phillippians 4:13, which states I can do all things through Christ which
strengtheneth me. His vision for the church now and in the future to come is to make
disciples of every member.

After 20 years of service, Pastor Peacock retired from Air Products in 1999. He later
worked for Solutia and Gulf Power before retiring from the work force completely.  He
obtained his Doctorate Degree from Oakdale Bible College, Mobile, Alabama in 2003.
Now he is surrounded by his wonderful family, staff, ministers, deacons and
members as he continues to minister the word of God to a dying world. He is active
in his community and also the First West Florida Baptist District Association, where
he serves as President of Congress Christian Education.

Pastor Peacocks’ love for God and people can be seen through his teaching,
preaching and especially singing at New Birth Baptist Church.  The Spirit of God can
always be felt when he sings his favorite song "I Got A Mind to Live for Jesus."  It
was his singing ability that got him the nickname “The Singing Preacher” early in his
